Not so long ago I wrote for the magazine MEDIAPART the article "When the pandemic of the Corona Virus joins the USONI scenario". This European people confined to their apartments, being able to see the sun only through their windows or on their screens, made me realize that as in USONI the sun had disappeared from their lives.

Two days ago I discovered with horror on the 8 o'clock news the terrible images of the disaster that had just struck my country, the South of France. Incredulous, I saw hundreds of houses washed away, an entire road network shattered, bridges torn down, cliffs collapsed... human losses in increasing numbers. This is what I wrote six years earlier in the book Usoni... Scenario of a Future which is the basis of the USONI Video Game developed by JIWE Studio in Kenya:

Rising sea levels, rising floods, rising sea levels, rising floods
frequent, increasingly violent. The waters had
begun to invade the land... we cannot fight water and man...
can't... stop the rain, stop the sea from rising or... the
modest stream to overflow and devastate the landscape.

Predictions, of course, based on scientific findings on global warming and repeated warnings of the danger facing our planet. However, the most disturbing aspect is the location of this catastrophe:

But when, all of a sudden, in a place like the South
of France, for example, huge floods
never seen before became regular, when some of the
men died in their car, which was taken away by the
the waters of a river that had always been calm and
when disasters struck on the island's shores, and the
vacation spots where we used to come and spend our vacations.
we began to think that it was not happening  just in another world after all.

At the time I started thinking about this crazy scenario that turned the world upside down in the future, denouncing the injustice that had ruled the world until now. While insisting on the fact that thousands of migrants from the South were launching themselves into the sea to try to reach this European land that seemed so promising compared to the land they were forced to flee, I needed a climax that would symbolize the overthrow of the world, I wanted an impossible final, totally filmic and fantastic, and I thought of volcanoes:

Volcanoes that had always been extinct woke up in a
blow in a gigantic explosion...
In an apocalyptic vision, the earth was covered up
of a thick lava mantle... the impotent man could not do nothing
but  watch his land disappear and, looking up to the
sky, see it covered with a black cloud... and the sun disappeared...

No, the scenario will not come true... but the message will be there to establish that one world must end for another to begin …

No, not the End OF THE WORLD but the End OF A WORLD!

Il n’y a pas si longtemps j’écrivais pour le magazine MEDIAPART l’article QUAND LA PANDEMIE DU CORONA VIRUS REJOINT LE SCENARIO DE USONI. Ce peuple européen confiné dans leurs appartements, ne pouvant apercevoir le soleil qu’à travers leurs fenêtres ou sur leurs écrans, me fis  constater que comme dans USONI le soleil avait disparu de leur vie.

Il y a deux jours je découvrais avec effroi aux infos de 20h les terribles images du désastre qui venait de frapper mon pays, le Sud de la France. Incrédule, je voyais des centaines de maisons emportées par les eaux, tout un réseau routier éclaté, des ponts arrachés, des falaises écroulées… des pertes humaines en nombre croissant. Or voilà ce que j’écrivais six ans auparavant dans le bouquin Usoni… Scénario d’un Futur qui est la base du Video Game USONI développé par JIWE Studio au Kenya :

Le niveau des mers de plus en plus élevé, les crues de plus en plus
fréquentes, de plus en plus violentes. Les eaux avaient
commencé à envahir les terres... on ne peut pas combattre l'eau et l'homme…
ne peut pas… arrêter la pluie, empêcher la mer de monter ou... le
modeste ruisseau de déborder et dévaster le paysage.

Des prévisions, bien sûr, qui s’appuyaient sur des constats scientifiques sur le réchauffement climatique et des alertes répétées sur le danger auquel notre planète devait faire face. Cependant le côté le plus dérangeant est la localisation de cette catastrophe :

Mais quand, tout à coup, dans un endroit comme le Sud
de la France par exemple, de gigantesques inondations
jamais vues auparavant devinrent régulières, quand des
hommes moururent dans leur voiture emportée par les
eaux d'une rivière qui avait toujours été calme et
paisible, quand les catastrophes s'installèrent sur des
lieux de vacances où on avait l'habitude de venir se
dorer au soleil, on commença à se dire que ça n'arrivait
pas que chez les autres après tout.

A l’époque où j’ai commencé à penser à ce scénario fou qui mettait dans le futur le monde à l’envers, dénonçant l’injustice qui avait dirigé le monde jusqu’à maintenant, m’insurgeant sur le fait que des milliers de migrants du Sud se lançaient sur les flots pour essayer de rejoindre cette terre européenne qui semblait si prometteuse comparée à la terre qu’ils étaient obligés de fuir, j’avais besoin d’un point culminant qui allait symboliser le renversement du monde, un final impossible, totalement filmique et fantastique, et je pensai aux volcans:

Des volcans de tout temps éteints se réveillèrent d'un
coup en une gigantesque explosion…
En une vision apocalyptique, la terre se recouvrit
d'un épais manteau de lave… l'homme impuissant ne put se contenter que
de regarder sa terre disparaître et, levant les yeux vers le
ciel, le voir se couvrir d'un nuage noir... le soleil disparut...

Non, le scénario ne se réalisera pas jusque-là… mais que le message, lui, se réalise pour établir, oui, qu’un monde doit finir pour qu’un autre commence…

Non, pas la Fin DU MONDE mais la Fin d’UN MONDE !
