ADMI (Africa Digital Media Institute) and Jiwe Studios have just signed a partnership to grow game development in Africa through high quality education and game distribution.
This partnership is a great opportunity to solve one of Africa’s most challenging problems in game development as a career. There are 900 million Africans below 35 years, creating a huge demand for employment opportunities and sustainable industries to support them. Even more exciting is that in Sub Saharan Africa, 230 million jobs will require digital skills by 2030, placing a spotlight on the importance of the digital educational ecosystem.
The partnership envisions a future where game development will provide a source of revenue and livelihood for the youth. With extremely high youth unemployment across the continent, Africa is a region in the world where the youth population is increasing. By 2050 Africa’s youth, i.e., those aged between 0 and 30 years old, will increase by nearly 50 per cent.
Africa will have the most significant number of young people in the world, therefore the most imaginative and energetic population in the world. Africa’s youth are critical to the continent’s future when it comes to economic development, mobile and gaming as a whole.
